GlobalAustin and World Affairs Council of Austin are proud to host Julie Kavanagh, our Diplomat in Residence for Texas for the U.S. Department of State, for a special two-part Distinguished Speakers Series. This event is tailored for Central Texas high school students, college students, young professionals, and career changers who aspire to join the U.S. Foreign Service.
In this first of two sessions, Julie will share her reflections on her career, lessons learned, challenges, and the elements of fulfillment during her nearly 30 years of service working for the U.S. Department of State.
In the second session (to be scheduled in January, 2019), Julie will come back for workshop style session to share tips and tricks of the application process and answer any remaining questions aspiring foreign service officers may have.
