How Thrillers are a Window into how U.S. Foreign Policy Really Works"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In collaboration with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theaustinschool.com\/\">Austin School Lecture Series<\/a>, the World Affairs Council of Austin is pleased to feature a presentation by Todd Moss, former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, now senior fellow at the Center for Global Development in Washington DC and a nonresident scholar at Rice University\u2019s Baker Institute in Houston.\u00a0 Todd\u2019s work focuses on US-Africa relations, energy policy, and private investment. Previously, he has been a professor at the London School of Economics (LSE) and Georgetown University and has worked at the World Bank and the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). He\u2019s the author nonfiction books including <em>African Development: Making Sense of the Issues and Actors<\/em> (2011) and <em>Oil to Cash: Fighting the Resource Curse with Cash Transfers <\/em>(2015).\u00a0 Todd also writes an international thriller series for Penguin\u2019s Putnam Books about a State Department crisis manager including <em>The Golden Hour<\/em> (2014), <em>Minute
