The World Affairs Council of Austin, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Mexico, the Austin-Saltillo Sister City Committee,\u00a0 the City of Austin, Univision, Austin’s annual Fiesta de El Grito de Independencia is a musical celebration and historical re-enactment of Mexico’s call for independence from Spain.<\/p>\n

This family-oriented celebration is alcohol free. Special programming includes Mexican and Tejano music, folklorico dancers, and food vendor booths.\u00a0 The highlight of the evening is the re-enactment of \u201cEl Grito\u201d, by the Honorable Pablo Marentes,\u00a0 C\u00f3nsul General de M\u00e9xico in Austin.<\/p>\n
