SUMMARY:Rethink Health Care Spending: Are You (and Your Employees) Getting Your Money’s Worth?
DESCRIPTION:The World Affairs Council of Austin\, in partnership with the University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business\, is proud to present the Texas Enterprise Speaker Series. \nJoin us on 20 April for a presentation by Elizabeth Teisberg\, Ph.D.Executive Director\, Value Institute for Health and Care at Dell Medical School\, McCombs School of Business.  \n \nDoes health care spending seem uncontrollable and ineffective? Are you and your employees adrift in an ever-shifting landscape of legislation\, mergers\, rising costs\, and ineffective care? Does your organization lose productivity and profit due to poor employee health and high spending on health benefits? \nAs we all know\, there are no quick fixes\, but the trends won’t change unless employers take a new stance. What if health benefits promoted health and catalyzed change in health care delivery? \nJoin us to discuss what high-value health care means and how employers can catalyze change that improves health outcomes and expands meaningful\, effective choices for your employees. \nAttendees will learn: \n• How employers can be catalysts in health care transformation\n• How to improve employee health while reducing cost\n• How to find and understand hidden costs in health care\n• How to create and sustain value \nElizabeth Teisberg is co-creator of the idea of value-based health care strategy and an internationally recognized author and professor. She currently serves as Dell Medical School’s Executive Director of the Value Institute for Health and Care. \nTeisberg has won the Wachovia Award for outstanding research\, the Frederick S. Morton Award for Leadership\, and the Book of the Year Award from the American College of Health Care Executives. She comes to Dell Medical School from Dartmouth College’s Geisel School of Medicine and was previously on the faculty of the University of Virginia’s Graduate School of Business and the Harvard Business School. She earned an M.S. and a Ph.D. from the Stanford University School of Engineering. She also holds a Master of Engineering degree from the University of Virginia and an A.B. degree\, summa cum laude\, from Washington University in St. Louis. \nRegistration cost includes lunch.  RSVP via the event website link here or below. \n
