DESCRIPTION:Please join like-minded “global thinkers” for a monthly discussion on the major political/economic issues that our world is currently experiencing. \nInitially this event will be a virtual zoom discussion with break out groups. \nThis month’s topic will be:\nThe Middle East – Challenges and Opportunities.  \nWe now have a new administration which will face opportunities but also challenges in the Middle East almost immediately upon taking office. With Turkey\, we have a NATO member often aligning itself with Russia. In Israel\, we have territorial expansionism with domestic uncertainty. \nAnd then there is Iran\, where provocations abound – from seizing a Korean tanker in the Strait of Hormuz to increasing their uranium enrichment quota – in a response to US sanctions. While in Saudi Arabia and some of the Gulf States\, there is a rapprochement with Israel over the perceived Iranian/Shia threat. \nWhat should our priorities be in addressing these issues?
