SUMMARY:Cover to Cover: A Voice Out of Poverty
DESCRIPTION:The World Affairs Councils of America’s Cover to Cover webinar features author Jillian Haslam as she speaks about her new book: A Voice Out of Poverty. \nA Voice Out of Poverty is a raw and inspiring memoir. Haslam tells the story of her childhood in the slums of Calcutta. Growing up in poverty\, Haslam overcame disease\, malnutrition\, and tragedy. Despite the severity of her family’s living circumstances\, she completed her education and landed her first major employment as a personal assistant to the CEO at Bank of America in India. Haslam rose through the ranks and is now dedicated to addressing the root causes of poverty through the Bank of America’s Charity and Diversity Network in India and her own nonprofit organizations. Her story speaks to the intersection of poverty\, race\, and gender.
